Delete your GiftR account.
Everything about you goes at once. Here is how, and what stays for taxes and bookkeeping.
In the app (the quickest way)
Open Account, scroll to Leaving GiftR, tap Delete My Account, read what goes and what stays, then tap Yes, Delete My Account. The same steps work in GiftR and in GiftR for Shops. Your account and its sign-in are deleted right away and the app signs out.
By email
If you can't open the app, write to support@getgiftr.app from the email address on your account, with the subject "Delete my GiftR account". We confirm it's you by replying to that address, then delete the account within 30 days and tell you when it's done. We never ask for your password.
What goes at once
- Your sign-in (email and password, or your Google or Apple link), your name, your settings and the devices you signed in on.
- The people you added, their photos, dates, addresses and notes, and every gift on their calendars. A gift the shop hasn't started is cancelled and the shop is told.
- Your card on file, at GiftR and at Square.
- Your reveal links and pickup codes.
What stays, and why
- The record of each past order stays with the shop that made it and in GiftR's books, with nothing about you or your recipients on it: the item, the date and the money. Shops and GiftR must keep this for taxes and bookkeeping.
- A gift a shop is making right now is finished first. The app tells you when that is the case; try again once it has been delivered.
- Rejected photos are quarantined, not deleted, where the law may require it.
Shop owners and team members
- Deleting the owner's account closes the shop: it comes off GiftR, its items stop selling, the team's access ends, the Square connection is removed from GiftR, and every standing gift booked with the shop is put on hold so its sender can pick another shop. Finish or decline your open orders first.
- The owner's name and phone go with the account; for a home business, so does the exact address.
- A team member's deletion removes them from the team. The shop's orders stay with the shop.
